Sacred Stillness At Velocity
THE STORY BEHIND THE ART
Sacred Stillness at Velocity was created during worship at the Sanctuary Church. This mixed-media painting explores the meeting place between chaos and peace—the place where everything around us may be moving, yet God remains present.
The figure sits quietly at the center, surrounded by sweeping rings of color and motion. His face is lifted, his hands are open, and his posture is one of worship and surrender. Rather than escaping the movement around him, he is at peace within it.
Layers of vintage papers, ephemera, and vintage music are worked into the painting, adding fragments of history and texture beneath and within the color and movement.
At the heart of Sacred Stillness at Velocity is the reminder that stillness does not always mean the absence of chaos. Sometimes sacred stillness is found right in the midst of it—centered in the presence of God.
